If you have read my blog for sometime, you know I LOVE summer. Spring has sprung which means that summer is just that much closer!!! Here in the PNW, we’ve been having true spring weather the last few days with sunshine and rain happening within a matter of hours. The cherry blossoms are here too! This means it’s time to update wardrobes to get ready for this kind of weather. Today I’ll be giving you a peek into Brooks Running 2017 spring line. Get ready, it’s awesome!
Every year, I look forward to the Nordstrom Anniversary sale. It happens every July and is the perfect time every year to pick up a few new items to carry you through the rest of the year. Technically the sale is to highlight fall fashions, but usually they have a few wardrobe staples that you can take advantage of on sale. I was able to shop the sale before the general public, and rounded up my favorite workout clothes and activewear picks to share with you. There is some really great stuff this year, so be sure to take advantage before the sale ends on August 8th!
First things first, shoes! Every year they always have awesome Nike’s on sale at the anniversary sale & this year was not any different.
Nike Free TR Fit 6 – this was one of my purchases. Loved the pink!
Workout Clothes & Activewear
Whether you spend your days in workout clothes like I do, or you just love some athleisure style – there are some really great deals on the #NSale this year that you have to check out!
My number one pick — the Zella Live In Leggings. You MUST buy these if you workout or not. You CANNOT go wrong with a pair of basic black leggings. These are excellent quality and are one of the basic essentials on sale. For $34 you get an awesome pair of leggings!! If you are into colorful leggings, they come in lots of fun colors too!
Zella Level Up Seamless Tee – reminds me of the Lululemon tees at a way better price! Zella Live in Crops – these are a 7/8 length, which I love!!
Zella Ready or Not Crop Pullover Top – super cute piece for layering
Zella Wrap Hoodie – the ULTIMATE in comfort. Perfect for to and from the studio or for lounging. Shown here layered over the
Alo Lucid Mesh Tank
Zella Live in ‘Sutra’ Leggings — these leggings!! So cute!
They always have some good Nike clothes at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. I loved this sports bra, tank & tee. They didn’t have my size in store, so I ordered online. The bra is very comfy & fits well. Both shirts are perfect for a run or sweaty seesh at FlyWheel!
Nike ‘Pro Indy’ Dri-FIT sports bra
Nike ‘Elastic’ T-Back Dri-FIT tank
Nike ‘Cool Breeze’ Burnout Dri-FIT tee
So there you have it – my must have picks for activewear from the 2016 Nordstrom Anniversary sale. I only focused on workout clothes, but this sale takes place in every department of the store. You can beat the crowds by shopping online – Nordstrom has free shipping and returns. Take a look, something that you’ve had on your wishlist may be on sale!
I am back from Blogfest! Idea World & Blogfest weekend is easily the highlight of the year for me. I will be recapping Blogfest very, very soon. After a long day at work, I have a few updates for you!
I am headed to Nordstrom to check out the preview of the #NSale! The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is something I love to shop every year. This year, I am going to check out the Nike’s on sale and all the active wear. It is a great time of year to stock up on some sweaty essentials. Watch for post very soon with all about my fitness picks from the sale!
Lastly, the new Quest Bar flavor launched today – Oatmeal Chocolate Chip. It tastes just like the cookie y’all! Definitely a fun addition to the Quest flavor family. Rush out and grab a bar or a box and give one a try. You won’t be disappointed!
Interested in attending an event in the series? Find out how at the bottom of this post.
The Style Boss Event
Each session features a variety of styles that are hand picked by local fashion bloggers. The first session in the series, Boss Style, featured styles appropriate for the work place. Julianna of Blush & Camo, Haley of Me and Mr. Jones, and Lisa of Story of My Dress were the panelists and all contributed different ‘looks’. There was a mix of business and casual, perfect #girlboss attire! All the outfits were great for a day at work or a conference, and some could even be turned into a evening outfit for happy hour or a date. My favorites are below.
It’s all in the Details
Who should attend?
Anyone! These events are perfect for someone who wants to learn about the current fashions and have a fun night out. I had a great time and highly recommend you attend an upcoming event if you can fit it into your schedule. It’s a great way to socialize with friends or meet new people. Gossip & Glamour knows how to throw a really fun event. You won’t want to miss these!
When is the next session & how can I attend?
Disclaimer: I received one item from PraNa to review as part of my relationship with Sweat Pink. All opinions are my own.
I don’t know about you, but I have a BAD case of Spring Fever. Some years are worse than others, and this is one of those years. Spring is RIGHT around the corner, and I literally cannot wait for it to get here. It has been a really wet winter here in the PNW and I miss the longer days and the sunlight.
A few weeks ago I was in Orlando, Florida for the Disney Princess Half and tried to get as much sun as possible. The weather was great; it made me so happy to be wearing shorts. I didn’t want to come home! This made me that much more excited for spring to get here. I’m such a spring/summer girl – I love the beach, the sand and some sun.
Speaking of sand, Orlando is about an hour from the beach. We wanted to spend lots of time at the theme parks, but I told Andy there was no way I was going to Florida and not seeing the ocean. I packed my swimsuit, my sunhat and a new sundress – I was ready! So after running the Princess half on Sunday morning (more on that later), we headed to the beach. My legs needed a break after 19.3 miles + walking around Disney the previous 2 days.
We headed to Coco Beach, had brunch and then found a comfy beach spot. Coco Beach is a surfer town and it definitely has the chill surfer vibe. I love the ocean and the sound of the waves crashing. It inspires me and brings me peace all at once; the ocean is definitely my happy place .
The new sundress that I got for the trip is the ‘Cali Dress‘ from PraNa’s new spring collection. This is my first piece of clothing from PraNa and I’m in love. I had heard such great things about the brand, and let me tell you they are true! I can’t wait to shop more with the discount code (see below!)
I love the flattering fit and that it’s a dress that is ready for anything. It has moisture wicking material ready for a hot day or a fun walk/hike but also has around town style. It is so versatile.
The Cali Dress transitioned perfectly from a cute brunch outfit, to a stylish beach cover up. I even was able to bust out a few yoga poses in it!
The prints in the spring collection are so cute! There are bold and bright options along with pastels, all perfect for spring. The good news is you can feel good about wearing these bright colors because the PraNa spring collection is Bluesign verified. What does that mean? It means that the fabrics used meet the highest standard in the textile industry for environmental health, safety and chemical management.
Do not fear, the fact that fabric is sustainable & safe for the environment does not take away from the comfort. This dress is so soft, you don’t even feel like you are “dressed up”. If yoga pants could be a dress, this would be it!
Check out the PraNa spring collection & grab some new clothes for the new season. Use the code PSSS16SBFL for 15% off.
Who doesn’t a fresh wardrobe update for spring? The great thing about PraNa is they make high quality workout clothes as well as lifestyle clothes. Their lifestyle clothes are stylish and ready for action, just like this dress.
I cannot wait to wear the Cali Dress more as the weather gets nicer here in the PNW. It is extremely comfortable, flattering and ready for anything.
Fitness is not always fun, you don’t always feel like doing it. Even the biggest fitness fanatic has days that they don’t feel like working out or eating right. I have learned a lot over the past few years about ways to keep fitness fresh & fun, even on the days we don’t feel like sweating. I may be a fitness freak now, but I haven’t always loved fitness. Check out these proven tips and tricks I am sharing with you.
Try something new
This gets mentioned a lot, but doesn’t get enough credit. Try a new workout or a new group fitness class. You could also try working out at a different time of day. Change it up and keep things interesting. I have had a ton of fun trying new workout classes at studios around where I live. I have found a few workouts I just can’t get enough of.
Find something that works for you
Don’t pay attention to what everyone else is doing. What works for you, may not work for someone else and vice versa. Just because tons of people rave about cross fit or running doesn’t mean it’s the workout you are gonna love & that is okay!! This is why trying new things is so important. This is also why there is no perfect workout for everyone. There is nothing wrong with walking, barre, or pilates. Find what gets you excited to workout and do that!
Get some cute workout clothes
If you like the way you feel when you workout, you will workout harder! It’s seriously true. I didn’t used to believe it, but then I tried it. Trust me, working out in cute clothes is a confidence booster, makes working out more fun and brings more sweat.
The cute workout clothes don’t have to break the bank either. Something like a cute tank does the trick.
Get the one I am wearing HERE.
Use code sweatdropracer15 for a 15% discount!
“Just 5 minutes”
I use this on the days I’m really not feelin’ it. I just tell myself, “just 5 minutes”. Basically, I workout for 5 minutes and evaluate how I am feeling after that. If you are not feelin’ it, then I take the day off. Can you guess what usually happens? I keep going!! Once the workout is over, I’m always glad I did it.
Getting started can be the hardest part. So tell yourself “five minutes” and see how you feel after that.
Tell me: which tip will you try?
what do you do to keep fitness fun??
I was given a Sweat Pink tank from Fit Approach to review. As always, all opinions are my own.
This is my first ‘Friday Faves’ post on my blog! This post is exactly what it sounds like, I am sharing a few of my current favorite things with you on a Friday! There are A LOT of things I am loving right now (both fitness & non-fitness related) check out my FAVES 🙂
Friday Faves – Fall 2015
1. Quest Pumpkin Pie Protein BarI have seen mixed reviews about this bar. Some people love it (me!) and others do not like it. I think it is DELISH and perfect for this time of year. It is different from the other Quest bars because it has a coating (yum) and some graham cracker type crunch on the outside. It is also limited edition. It has done wonders to satisfy my fall cravings and I HIGHLY recommend that you try it. Check it out HERE!
2. Kendra Scott Necklaces
My current accessory of choice! These are high quality pieces that are both timeless and stylish at the same time. They match so many different outfits and come in a bunch of different colors. These are my two favorite styles
lovin’ the black sparkle for fall..
I love the gunmetal and turquoise – really plays up an outfit. I also have this necklace in black and gold. So many possibilities with so many colors
3. Wine Lip Color
To me, wine lipstick just screams fall. It’s a bold lip that elevates any outfit and adds a look of glam.
This is my favorite ‘wine’ or ‘merlot’ colored lipstick. Good staying power and perfect balance of gloss and glam.
MAC ‘The Matte Lip’ Lipstick – Ruby Woo
Red Matte Lip. Need I say more.
Yves Saint Laurent Glossy Stain – 301 Le Rouge
This lip stain is my FAVORITE! It stays on for hours. Even overnight. Haha! I have it in several colors. This red color is great for fall.
I love this workout! We climb hills, we do sprints, there is awesome music, lots of sweat and NEVER a dull moment. They also have cute shirts with cool spin sayings like “torque down for what”.
It is my cross training of choice at the moment. When I am not running, I am probably spinning.
Check out their website and see if there is one in your area. I’m pretty sure you can take your first class for free.
I can’t get enough of breakfast these days. Just look at the amount of times I have shared breakfast recipes lately. I love some protein pancakes, protein french toast and of course my latest obsession, overnight oats. All these recipes are gluten free.
6. Ultima Replenisher Electrolytes
With all the running and major sweating (flywheel) I have been doing lately, my electrolytes are more important than EVER.
I cannot get enough of the Raspberry Ultima. I love it because it is just electrolytes, no sugar, no artificial ingredients, just good hydration.
7. Lorna Jane graphic tanks
I love all of these tanks. The “do not disturb” one cracks me up. Definitely a must have at the gyn. I think my most favorite is the “I’m not bossy, I’m the boss” LOL!
8. Celsius – Flo Fusion pre-workout
I don’t always use a pre-workout supplement, usually I just drink a cup of coffee before I workout. When I have a more intense workout or I am just not feeling the coffee, lately I have been using Flo Fusion sticks by Celsius. They help me power thru the workout by giving me extra energy and increased endurance. The berry flavor is my fav. This pre-workout doesn’t give me a crash like others have, nor does it make my heart flutter or do weird things like other ones have. It’s pretty much the only one I can tolerate besides coffee. Check them out here.
There ya’ have it!! Just some of the things I have been crushing on lately and I can’t get enough of.
Tell me: What weekend plans do you have?!
