One of my goals this year is getting better at spending my time doing things that align with my priorities. Sounds so normal, but it’s easier said than done, right? I am the kind of person who likes to do a lot of different things and always wants to say yes to fun. I don’t think that’s a bad quality to have, but it is when it takes away from or distracts you from working your big goals. Thru a lot of trial and error, I have gotten much better at choosing my big goals over fun. One of the ways I have been able to do this is thru planning out my week. Today I’m sharing 5 steps to help you succeed at making a weekly plan too!
One of my goals for 2017 is to share more about weight loss here on the blog. That is, after all, one of the reasons this blog even came to be. I have learned a lot over the course of loosing 80 pounds and maintaining it & I want to do a better job of sharing it. There have been lots of different experiences along the journey, and I’ve learned a lot about perseverance, patience, and myself. Of course, some lessons have to be learned for yourself, but I also feel that it might have been easier if I had an idea of what could possibly come. So, that is why I am committing to sharing more with you. Today, I am sharing a realization that is difficult but once your realize it, your perspective on weight loss changes.
Weight loss isn’t a destination you get comfortable at, the journey is REAL.
Happy 2017!! I cannot believe the New Year is already here! This year is definitely one of change, transition and new opportunities for me. I am still figuring out what all of that looks like, so my routine is a little shaken up at the moment. However, one thing that I cannot live without is exercise. I have had the opportunity to sweat a lot this year with friends at some new studios, so today I am sharing with you 5 reasons why you should try a local fitness studio near you. New year, new goals, new studio right?!
I love a good barre class! Why? I think it is the perfect way to get in resistance training while also hitting ALL the areas that people want to target. It is a true full body workout with arms, abs, legs and booty. Best of all, it can be modified to fit all fitness levels. So when I got invited to HitTheBarre with Zico Coconut Water, I was so excited. This was my first FlyBarre 45 class & I loved it so much, I’ve taken a few since.
I am so excited to share with you that my FAVORITE juice bar from California has arrived in Seattle!! My heart (and tummy) is bursting with joy! If you follow me on social media, you have surely seen me talk about Pressed Juicery before. Every time I would go to California, I would hunt down a freeze and juice. I am so excited to share with you that I now don’t have to go to Cali, it’s available right here in the PNW!
Hey, what’s up, helloooooo! Happy November!! I have missed you guys! I’ve been somewhat silent with blogposts lately due to a lot going on in my life. I wasn’t in a good headspace and I have been super busy, so the inspiration to do things I love was lacking. I do love blogging and have really missed it, so it’s good to be back. To all my readers who reached out, thank you for the love. Today I’m sharing a little bit of my life lately with you which includes the storefront grand opening of my favorite smoothie bowl truck!! YAY! Continue reading Life Lately: Runs + Smoothie Bowls for Dayz at Healthy Bonez!
When I started this blog, it was to talk about my weight loss and sharing workouts, recipes and resources to help support others in their weight loss journey. The blog has become part of my life, and like my life, it moves and changes with me. As I got into running, I started blogging more about running. Occasionally I throw in some fashion posts and share pieces of my life, cuz why not? My long time blog readers are my tribe, a community. I love sharing my life with them, so at times I feel called to share something a little more personal and that is what today’s post is about. None of us are perfect, we are all vulnerable and have struggles, and I am no different.
Have you ever had a tough moment in life; times where you don’t feel like yourself? Lately, I’ve been in one of those. Unfortunately it has lasted longer than a moment. I have good days and I have bad. At times there seem to be more discouraging days than good.
Overwhelm is real, and I find myself feeling like I can’t seem to move forward. Some of these feelings are entrepreneur struggles; trying to create and do a lot of things single handedly is not easy. The other part of it is some personal things I am dealing with. It’s disappointing because I feel like I have so many great things in my life, but they get overshadowed by sadness.
It’s okay to feel sad, but if you let it consume you and rule your life, especially when we have so much to be grateful for. Naturally, I am a happy and upbeat person who finds a lot of joy in life. It’s not fun when I don’t feel like myself. When I am having a bad day or the problems feel like too much to handle, there are a handful of things that I do to get my “mojo” back and today I’m sharing 3 ways to feel like yourself again.
3 Ways to Feel Like Yourself Again
1) When in doubt, WORK IT OUT
This is my go to, especially when I am in a funk! Sweat it out! Go for a run, lift some weights, do some relaxing yoga. The endorphin rush is amazing and it also helps relieve stress & anxiety. I can’t tell you how many times a workout has made my day better or given me a different perspective on a problem.
2) Reach out to a good friend
Or family member! Sometimes just talking with someone can help so much. You don’t even have to talk about the problem. Connecting with a good friend in person or over the phone recharges you with positive energy. When you spend time with someone who knows you really well and loves and cares for you, it’s good for the soul!
3) Gratitude – appreciate your life
Take a moment to be grateful for everything that you have. Even if it is not exactly as you would like it to be, or if you are feeling frustrated with your situation, you still have so much to be grateful for. Start with appreciating the air your breathe & the fact that you get to live another day. Take a few deep breaths and fill your heart with gratitude. Remember who you are and what you stand for.
- Take a bubble bath
- Go shopping! You don’t even have to buy anything, just browse.
- Get some quality “me time” i.e.: get a massage, read a book, get a blowout, or do a fun work out
- Engage in your favorite hobby
When you don’t feel like yourself, acknowledge it.
It’s okay to be in a funk sometimes. However, don’t let yourself stay there. I’ll admit, this last time I let myself sit there way too long. Like longer than a few days long. Life is too short, and I have too much to be grateful for and too many ambitions to allow myself to stay in a funk. When you realize you don’t feel like yourself: Acknowledge it. Reclaim yourself by using one of the steps above. Go kick ass!
