A Weight Loss Update: The Journey is REAL

One of my goals for 2017 is to share more about weight loss here on the blog. That is, after all, one of the reasons this blog even came to be. I have learned a lot over the course of loosing 80 pounds and maintaining it & I want to do a better job of sharing it. There have been lots of different experiences along the journey, and I’ve learned a lot about perseverance, patience, and myself. Of course, some lessons have to be learned for yourself, but I also feel that it might have been easier if I had an idea of what could possibly come. So, that is why I am committing to sharing more with you. Today, I am sharing a realization that is difficult but once your realize it, your perspective on weight loss changes.  

Weight loss isn’t a destination  you get comfortable at, the journey is REAL.

HAPPY 2016!

Happy New Year! I say this every time, I cannot believe another year has gone by! The last few weeks, studying for the NASM Certified Personal Trainer exam has been kicking my butt. I am taking it this next week, and I am so nervous. It is so much information, I spend the bulk of my free time studying. It’s crunch time! IMG_0768

This post is short and sweet, but coming up I have a few posts to recap 2015 and bring in 2016. There is lots of fill you in on. Fortunately there are many, many bright beginnings for me right now that I am very excited about and cannot wait to share with all of you!

In the meantime, here are just a few of my goals for 2016.

New Years EVE 2014!

Happy New Year’s Eve! 

I cannot believe that 2014 has come to an end. It has been such a fun and life changing year. I changed a lot as a person, not only physically but also emotionally – all for the better. I also started this blog – YAY! I have a lot in mind for 2015, I just need to plan, figure out if and when I will do things and make it happen!


What are your plans tonight? 

We are gonna lay low since we JUST got back from Mexico yesterday. I unpacked everything and did some work for my regular job today. I also tried desperately to find a dinner reservation, but all the good places are taken. 🙁 I decided that instead of going to a restaurant that we don’t really like and being disappointed with the options or the food, that I would rather make something here at home. Sure it is more work & a mess to clean up :-/ BUT you can control the ingredients and what it is. 

I decided to make a gluten free pizza crust from Betty Rocker. I saw this recipe on her website when she posted it, but hadn’t found a good time to make it. TONIGHT IS THE NIGHT! I bought all the ingredients today – sheesh were the grocery stores busy. We had NOTHING in our fridge, literally it was sad. Photo Dec 31

Almond milk, coconut milk, gluten free cookie dough, gluten free wraps, some fruit, butter, root beer and cauliflower (ignore the nastiness on the bottom, I cleaned that up) 😀 .  I don’t think there is ANYTHING that you could make with these ingredients, even on Chopped. hahaha. 

Anyway, I had to brave the grocery store to restock our fridge with kale, protein and other essentials, plus I needed arrowroot powder for this pizza crust. 2 different grocery stores had it, I tried a 3rd on my way home and LUCKILY found it. Photo Dec 31-3

The pizza crust is in the oven, I’m crossing my fingers it turns out. If it doesn’t Ill have to come up with a plan B… maybe tamales???


Tonight, I will be ringing in the New Year with my hubs and cats. Probably will watch the ball drop on TV and enjoy our Christmas tree. Tonight is the last night of the Christmas lights being up at the park by our house, so we may try to go see those as well. Part of me really wants to put on some heels and get  all dressed up, and the other part of me just feels tired. The heels and dress will be next year, sparkles, glitter and all. I did get my nails done today and they are sparkly, so that works for me!

I cannot believe 2015 is here! I am going to do my last yoga workout of 2014 right now, then enjoy the rest of the night. 

I am so thankful for all of you and all the 2014 has brought. This year will soon officially be history. Let’s bring it for 2015!!

Setting goals and reaching them is exciting, and you should congratulate yourself on your accomplishment and hard work.

Think about the last goal  you achieved and how you celebrated… was it with food?
